Singapore Zoo & Night Safari...to..Kuching....Sarawak....Borneo

After a fantastic few days in days in Singapore I'm now in Borneo!!!
Firstly tho I had a great day at the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari with my friend Hanna. She's a great German chick, with a really good sense of humor and we had fun touring around Singapore together...Especially on the MRT...the under ground rail system.
The Zoo was really lovely..especially when it poured down rain and Hanna and I looked like typical tourists checking out the animals absolutely drenched. We did eventually find a cafe for lunch and shelter.
The animals were not dissimilar to those you'd find at any zoo but each one seemed to be fornicating every time we looked into the enclosure!!! Very embarrassing for us!!
The night safari starts at 7pm and we decided to take a tram around the park (our little legs were very tired)...We went past many animals but mostly they were asleep or a bit difficult to see but the ones we could see were pretty impressive. Especially the very shy ant eater.
We took a walk to the tiger enclosure and I swear to god I was 10cm from a huge sleeping Tiger... the only thing that separated us was glass..I was so impressed I could have sat there for hours. Also because it was very entertaining watching people come close to the glass look around then look down and get the fright of their life!!
Hanna and I took great pleasure in pointed the tiger out to people and watching their reaction.:)
So now I'm in Sarawak and staying in a very friendly hostel in Kuching. I've joined up with a Dutch girl, Sandy, for a bit but we'll probably part ways in the next few days.
I went to the Urang utan habitat on the way to the long house..(see next adventure for details) and I saw two young males feeding at the feed station until the dominant male came to pig out. He was an impressive and graceful animal. It was a shame that there were so many noisy tourists there too. After feeding I went to the vet station where there were so many mothers with their babies eating coconuts and I was less than 5 feet away from a mother and her little baby.. It was so moving and they are so beautiful.. I can see how we are so similar.
We did and Longhouse tour, for 2 days 1 night, in a Kampung Village. It's a community of people who live together in a remote area in houses that are raised and are all connected. It's hard to explain but check it out on the net you'll see. They all farm the area and live a simple life. We stayed with one of the families and walked the area and spoke to the locals. I helped with the cooking and we ate till our bellies were stuffed. Sandy had a try at the traditional dance in tradition costume and it was hilarious. I taught the locals to belly dance and that was even more hilarious!!! By the end of the night I was married to one of the fellas....well there was a proposal anyway.
The following day.... yes I did it again...I went trekking.....Now you'd think I'd learn my lesson and stop venturing into the Jungle...considering I'm not a natural trekker..But hey!!
We were told it was an hour and a half...so our lovely host from the Kuching guest house, Mr Eric, decided ti come too. Three hours later up down up down up, bloody down we got to a beautiful water fall which I dived into straight away!! I tell you I'm getting sick of being wet with sweat, thinking I'm going to die in the jungle!!
I keep wondering what keeps compelling me to go gung-ho into the jungle and think that I'm some super hero? I'm sure I'm becoming delusional from the heat here.
So tomorrow I'm off to another national park, no not to trek, but hang out at the beach and see if I can spot some wild life.
For my birthday I've decided to spend the day being pampered by traditional massage and reflexology...then head to Saba to meet up with Morten and Signe for a little bit..
And maybe trek some mountains!!!
