Bako National Park....Sarawak
Bako National Park is a beautiful little part of Sarawak...Firstly we caught the bus at 7 am for an hour to reach the boat...unbeknown to me it was 40 Rm for the boat...one small detail my friend forgot to tell me..... As lovely as the trip was I was still in a little shock and was wondering how i was going to get back to the bus that arvo. Luck has it we had 4 people in the boat so things weren't so bad..Share the wealth, so to speak.
When we got to shore the tide was out so we had to wade through mud to get to the parks office. Not so bad I thought I could bottle it and sell it to overly wealthy woman as a natural anti ageing.
On arrival we met up with a Scottish couple I had met at our last guest house and we found a pit python lazing in a tree. Their highly venomous but are activated by heat, so long as you don't get too close your okay.
Oh and I did it again... I think I've been possessed by a super natural desire to go off into the jungle and trek until I'm sweating and panting like never before!!
I decided to do "Short" treks around the park as I was only there for the day. I went to the beach via the most enchanting jungle track. I felt like I was in fairyland and I did it at my pace.
I found a tree full of Proboscis Monkey's. They look like their from Who-Ville in the Cat in the Hat. they have these big noses and roundy bellies that make them all look like old men and the females have big turned up noses. Hilarious really.
On the way back I saw a rare Flying Lemur that was orange and white spot and the park ranger was there almost wetting his pants at the sight.
Near the rest house there were plenty of little monkey's just like my pal Archie and Silver leaf Monkey's with their black and silver coats and little orange babies!!
Oh and I saw the biggest, ugliest wild boars with big beards... they made me laugh they were so ugly.
After lunch Sandy decided to join me on a walk (Ha!) up to the look out. Yeah sure 500 meters....UP!!!! we called it the stairway to hell! It was all up these little steps straight up the side of a hill. I swear to god, I really don't know what has come over me?
The view from the top was fantastic!!
So that was Bako. I was really Impressed!!
