Jerantut Night Markets
I just took a wonder thru the night markets here in ever so exciting Jerantut. It was simply amazing. I was the only Westerner there and that was great because they were very enthusiastic to show me the local foods and products they had around. The fresh fish isle was just amazing. There were rows and rows of fresh fish constantly being flicked with water to keep the flys away. As well as buckets of live fish swimming ready for the kill...... The only night I didn't have my camera... Bugger!!
I has chicken skewers for dinner with a spicy sauce, which comes in you own personal plastic bag, along with you own personal plastic bag with your drink in it too. weird but it works.
I actually bought a shirt that fits and was pretty chuffed let me tell you...
I also sampled a pancake type thing with creamed corn sugar and a brown substance which I think is oatmeal or the likes. Pretty yum but I now realize why this Nation has an epidemic proportion of people with diabetes. Everything has sugar in it or is made with condensed milk... Even the Nescafe... MMM-m.
I met the guy who works at the local hardware shop who has been very helpful the two times I've been here, at the markets. He was so excited to introduce me to his wife and two beautiful daughters it made me feel real welcome and special. Jerantut may not be the place of excitement but I'm relatively left alone... I've only had one offer to see a guys "gorilla" and one declaration of love. ... By the way I told him to keep his Gorilla in his PANTS!!
Well they actually have a bus going to Melaka tomorrow so I will be leaving here on the 10 am rubber time local bus... Hopefully...
